Weekly Report

B - UDOnce again I have my wordage count met. I’m actually even surprising myself. I thought I would’ve crashed and burned long before now. I must admit that at times I thought: What the hell am I doing? I was getting the stories and characters mixed up—but we all know that’s nothing new for me. Anyway… here’s where I’m at:

Moon Runners 2: I Won’t Let You Go 30K

The Lines of Marsden 4: The Trail of Red Roses 30K

Wardens of the Guild 2: All That Shimmers 30K

Unsubmitted Plan

These are the books I have wanted to get written—or—rewritten, because they mean something to me. I’m just hoping that everyone enjoys them as much as I do. It’s so hard trying to figure out which story belongs with which publisher. I only hope that I choose wisely. I’m also hoping I can finally try my hand at writing some more one off books and some young adult books. I’m not sure if I’d be very good at them, but I want to give them a go.

Admetus Gaea 1: The Gaean Prophecy 28/07—24/08

SPAM Inc. 1: Claiming Roxy’s Heart 25/08—21/09

Taking Chances 1: Lie to Me 22/09—19/10

Quaide’s Crossing 1: Matthew’s Way 20/10—16/11

Guardians of the Dragon Born 1: Cullen Arianan 17/11—14/12

rednewscan Inner-City Pack 1: Barbwire Roses

Another Friday night and once again Wesley Rush found himself sitting in the living room at the house of the alpha for the Inner-City Pack. Being here for some would be classed as an opportunity to better one’s own life. For Wes, being human, and the best friend of the alpha’s youngest son Derek Reed, or Rek as everyone always called him…being here meant that he wasn’t at his parent’s house being ignored once again, or sitting in his own home all by himself. The problem was being here meant he would have to instead endure the animosity pouring of Rek’s older brother, Colton. For some reason beyond his fathoming, the guy always seemed to have hated him. Maybe it was because he was human, who knew? He for sure didn’t, and he wasn’t about to ask the man what the hell his problem was.

To top it all off he’d received another lecture from his father about hanging around Rek so much… it wasn’t that his father was an elitist, or humanist as some had been labelled. His father actually had many friends among the Lycans who co inhabited their world. The problem was his father, Tate Rush Senior, was of the opinion that the friendship Wes had with Rek would turn into something more. In other words his father didn’t want a gay son. Wes had been threatened by his father numerous times about what would happen to him if that were the case.

Being disowned wasn’t the worst thing on the list. Wes had tried to explain to his father once about Lycan mates, and that his father had nothing to fear. Because at twenty-two Rek had already passed into adulthood and knew his mate was out there somewhere because of the bond he’d already formed with someone he just hadn’t yet met. The weird part was the connection once opened remained that way until they stood face to face. Rek knew his mate would somehow make his way to the Inner-City Pack so they could eventually be together. Though right now Rek wasn’t sure if his mate was male or female. Lycans didn’t care what sex their mate was, because mates were something to be treasured and protected at all costs.

Their other best friend, Alison Crane, or Ali Cat as he and Rek had both called her since they’d all met back in primary school was now mated to Rek’s cousin, Roman Reed. They also lived in the alpha house, seeing as Roman had resided here since his parents were killed when he was a child. There was more to that story but no one was telling and especially not him.

Everyone had their secrets—even him—well up until tonight that is. His secret wasn’t anything bad or very shocking. Mainly he always downplayed who he was when he came to his friend’s house. He didn’t think they would like him as much if he come dressed as the real Wesley Rush. He knew it was probably a false feeling but before tonight he hadn’t been willing to risk showing them. So for this birthday instead of playing down his appearance, he wore the kohl which usually rimmed his slate grey eyes to make them stand out. He reapplied the black polish to his nails, and his normal braided hair now hung loose down his back ending around the middle of his spine. Rek and Ali Cat had always told him to be who he is, but Wes had never wanted to be an embarrassment to Alpha Adam Reed. Being who he was, Adam always had people stopping around, and Wes never once saw anyone who ever looked like he normally did.

He had often asked Rek why Colt seemed to dislike him so much, and his friend had explained because Colton was a strong Lycan, he could smell the deception on Wes. So that reason was why he was here on his twenty-first birthday sitting in the home of his friend once more and waiting for the precise moment he would transition from child to adult.. and for once being the real Wes. For the Lycans, at the precise time of your birth a person’s scent changed. Humans couldn’t smell the change, but for Lycans it was like broadcasting for all unmated adults. Adam had told him if he was lucky he may have a Lycan mate. Wes didn’t have the heart to tell the alpha he wasn’t really looking for a mate.

Right now though, Wes wasn’t even sure if he was going to even make it through the next ten minutes for the change to happen. The way Colt was giving him a death stare was truly unnerving. He couldn’t ever remember having recently offending Colt in any way, so he only had to go on what Rek had told him about smelling a lie. The kicker was, once a few years ago, Wes had actually thought he’d had a crush on Colt, but the guy’s attitude toward him had quickly cured Wes of following the thought too far. Also there was the small fact his father had forbidden him from ever being gay—as if it were a choice. The truth was, Wes wasn’t actually attracted to anyone, and he didn’t think it was going to be happening any time soon.

As the seconds drew closer to ‘the change’ taking place, Wes couldn’t help but notice more of the pack was gathering. The Reeds had always had an open house policy for pack, but tonight it felt different. Tonight, Wes got a sinking feeling they were all here for him. He wasn’t sure what he was meant to do about it.

“Are you okay?” Ali said as she and Rek came to stand by his side.

He shook his head. No he wasn’t okay. For some reason, Colt was staring at him with such intensity and Wes was finding it harder to breathe. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think the guy was contemplating whether or not to rip his throat out—painfully slow.

“What the hell is wrong with Colt?” Rek hissed to Ali, voicing what Wes had only been thinking moments before.

Ali tilted her head to the side and appeared to be studying Colt, while Rek typed a message on his phone. The alpha must have been the recipient as he nodded in their direction and walked over to Colt and lent in close to whisper in his son’s ear. Colt shook his head violently, pulled away from his father and took a step in their direction.

In that instant, more than one wolf present lifted their noses in the air and inhaled, but only one emitted a growl so deep it resonated through Wes. The man’s ice blue eyes, which had both fascinated him and terrified him many times through the years, were locked on him. Wes hadn’t even had time to move before Colton Reed crossed the distance between them and grabbed him. Colt sank his canines—very sharp canines—into the flesh where Wes’s shoulder and neck met. The sensation of Colt drinking from him was too much, and without thinking Wes punched Colt in the side trying to dislodge the man from his throat . At this stage he didn’t care if he died from the injuries.

When his attempts to free himself failed, Wes stilled and gave in waiting for Colt to be done. Only then did he hear the shit storm which was happening around them. The roar which left the alpha’s throat did what he couldn’t. Colt released him and dropped to all fours as his father forced him to shift. When a jet black wolf finally stood in front of them all his ice blue eyes were the same as the man who had attacked him. Alpha Reed came over and Wes stood terrified as the man checked out the bite and then gently but forcefully made him kneel on the floor before Colt.

The alpha glared at his son. “Close it before he bleeds to death.”

Updating ~ Admetus Gaea

AGAs everyone knows… whenever I’m sick I have a tendency to fall back to my original story. The one that got me started in writing in the first place… In the beginning it was subbed at Silver Publishing… after they went bust… I subbed it to Wayward Ink Press, and got feedback saying it was too busy and I needed to pull it apart and reconstruct the first story into three… giving each couple their own story…

At the time I was like what the fuck… I really didn’t want to reconstruct an already written story… I know in the years that have passed I have talked about doing it… but, just never got around to actually starting… With the 6 month hiatus I’ve had from writing I sat down and re read the story and finally saw what the people at Wayward Ink Press were talking about… so tentatively I’ve been writing up notes on how to do what was asked. I even wrote 4 chapters in the new storyline… I wanted to keep the bases of my original story, but tweak it enough so each couple has their time in the light. So now I have to change one 40K novella into 3 X 40K novellas and still end up at the same place. More to the point have the first novella’s prologue be the last novella’s epilogue..

I have changed the series name to Admetus Gaea and the first story title to: The Gaean Prophecy… so basically I just reversed them… I have also realised doing it this way there are potentials for more stories… but here are the first three.

ADMETUS GAEA

The Gaean Prophecy

Broken Serenity

New World Alliance

I’m hoping that it doesn’t take me long… I might even set it aside for my first for 2017 book. I’m trying to figure out the 22 I want to do for the challenge I had to postpone a year… sorry folks… I need to write what fires my imagination… I will just say that there will definitely one The Lines Of Marsden… and The Connelly Chronicles and the rest will be up in the air… for the Penny Brandon Challenge.

Update Time

PRIDE_transparent-3-300x143I’m still working on blurbs for The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes—fingers crossed Faith BB and I finally got it right. I really do suck at writing blurbs. Life would be so much easier if I could just hand someone the story and say: here you go now write me a blurb…

WIPSAlso I have been working on something new because It just won’t get out of my head… It’s called Guardians Of The Dragon Born 1: Cullen Arianan… If you want to find out some more you can take a look here at what the characters look like inside my head… and where I think the story might be heading.

Time For An Update

open-book-clip-art-1816875Okay, I know everyone is wondering if I’m up to date on everything I have set out to do this year… well the answer is ‘NO’. But, I’ll have caught up by the end of Feb… I have kept up to date mostly in longhand… I just haven’t typed it all up on the computer.
The Lines Of Marsden 4: The Trail Of Red Roses… I am on track, and even wording it so the short offshoot Christmas novella at the end of the year… I feel good about this storyline.
Moon Runners 2: I Won’t Let You Go… I have just over half of this written, but need to go back through and rewrite a whole section as it doesn’t make sense, and I have no idea what it has to do with the story itself… I hate it when that happens.
Lancaster’s Way 3: Pre-loved…This is up to date and all written in longhand. I have no excuse except to say that I have been suffering a bout of bronchitis and hadn’t been on the computer for five days… so the ones in long hand will continue to be written in longhand until I find the time to type everything up.

The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes… This story has been one drama after another. I just can’t get it right. I keep getting close to finishing, then pulling it apart and redoing it all over again ~ frustrating as hell I can tell you.
Still waiting to hear back on Intended Mates 1: Lay Your Body Down… and Wardens Of The Guild 1: The Real You

It’s Already Started

open-book-clip-art-1816875

I’m already running late… I still have to finish the last book of 2015—The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes for Pride Publishing. so it’s throwing everything out of whack for me… but no fear I will have caught up by the end of January.

My one major goal this years it to write at least 4K per day to keep on top of the PBC (Penny Brandon Challenge). I think it’s very doable… That will mean I will also hopefully be caught up by the end of January, or maybe February.

I think it will run more smoothly once my son has started back to high school (year 10). At the moment he’s working flat out, so my days are constantly interrupted by me having to drive him to and from work.

A Year In Reflection

12.2

2016 was going to be my year… but then life got in the way. I’m not saying it was a bad year, but it certainly could have been better.

The kids are doing fine at school, so that has all been great. Although, my son, Ethan has been offered a position in an Alternative Year 10 Class at his high school for next year. Which in a way I think will suit him better than regular year 10 classes… most of the classes will revolve around setting up and growing a vegie patch business… they sell the produce to the teachers. At the end of the year they get to spend the money on something. I’ve had meeting at the school about it… which i was told the mornings will be spent on Maths/English/Science and all will revolve around the vegie patch business. In the afternoons they will either be playing sport or working in the vegie patch, & each Friday they go out and learn some kind of trade… makes more sense to me, because at the end they will come out knowing something useful—instead of like regular year 10 where each subject you may be learning about different things and nothing links up.

I’m also proud of Ethan for getting a job, and paying back the loan for his motorbike…

Emily is still waiting to hear back from the uni to see if her change of bachelor has been accepted (from Business to Law—she’ll get there in the end). I’m hoping she finds out soon as then she can start organising books etc. Plus she will be moving out of home and into a share house with one of her uni friends… so it means I’ll have my office back. I love writing in my recliner, and will do so on the days I’m watching the cricket, but honestly, I get more done when I work in the office, and lock myself away from the world.

I’m also proud of Emily for picking up the slack now the hubs is in NZ. For also picking up Ethan when he has to work late, as I can’t see in the dark.

Dare I say it—I have two great kids—even if they do drive me insane most days.

My husband has moved to New Zealand for work. Eventually I will join him, but right now that just isn’t possible… this is what’s been stressing me out the most. Mainly because I have been dealing with the taxes, houses, co-owned properties, and I’m glad to say that after July 2016 I should be done with the taxes at least. I am tired of all the bullshit that goes with keeping them up to date. At least my husband has to deal with it after that.

Writing wise I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked to… again I put this all down to stress. Please let 2016 be a little less stressful—that’s all I’m asking.

Moments to be proud of:

  • Expirmentals 2: Running into Zero Tolerance
  • The Diamond Rose 1: Gateway to Kalethia
  • Storming Love~Flood: Adrian & Lockie
  • Hollow’s Trouble
  • The Lines of Marsden 3: You Make Me Die in Pieces
  • Hidden Hearts 1: Harder & Harder to Breathe

And for completing:

  • Hidden Hearts 2: One last Kiss Goodbye (extended & revised version)
  • The Freedomers 1: Zephania’s Chance
  • Wardens of the Guild 1: The Real You

And for mostly completing:

  • The Connelly Chronicles 2: Beautiful Goodbyes

This year I have found difficult to write anything. I swear to God every time I sat down in front of the computer, some family drama would jump right in front of me. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to concentrate more on the important things.

Over the past year, I have done a lot of reading… most of it I have enjoyed immensely, while others left me scratching my head and thinking WTF! Yet I still found myself going back and reading old favourites ~ MMMF.

AKM Miles, Alexis Morgan, Andrew Grey, Bailey Bradford, Carol Lynne, Cassandra Clare, Charlie Richards, David Eddings, Dean Koontz, Diana Gabaldon, Gabriel Evans, J.K. Rowling, Joyee Flynn/Flynn Eirie, Kerrelyn Sparks, Lynn Hagen, Lynsay Sands, Mary Calmes, Sean Michaels, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Stephani Hecht, Stormy GlennOf course I’m sure there are many more people I think are fantastic authors.

Once again in 2015, I participated in being a judge for the Rainbow Awards—this is something I love doing, as I get the opportunity to read authors who have never crossed my radar before. Some of them I have already sought out more of their work. I will more than likely do it again in 2016.

I sadly had to pull out of being one of the co-organisers of the Hop Against Homophobia & Transgender blog hop. I seriously just don’t have the time to keep up with everything… though I have offered to keep open the HAHAT Facebook page open for everyone else… To be honest I’m not even sure I’ll have time to participate in DRitC next year… It’s always a great honour to be able to write a story from someone else’s prompt. Mind you, I’m not sure I’ve even come close to matching what they wanted… speaking of next year, my first ever DRitC: Shadows on the Heart is getting a major make over and extension done. I just need to add more detailed information if I ever have a hope in hell of writing #2: On the Flipside of Reverse.

As a family we are also striving to become healthier… not that my son needs to lose any weight (as over the last year he has dropped 12kg) now he just wants to tone up. If he wants to get fitter, I’m not going to stop him. Emily will be living across town so she can do what she wants (I’m not exactly sure how much she has lost). As for me I’m mainly changing my diet by cutting out any and all junk food. Not that I’m really a sweets eater, but I know I drink more coffee than what’s good for me. So more water and less sugars—more fresh foods and less packaged foods. I promise to give a monthly update for the whole of 2016 (this is probably more than you ever wanted to know about me, but I figure if everyone is keeping tabs on me then I will stick to my goals). Have no fear of calling me out on it if I start to let things slide.

I have many plans set in writing for the year ahead. Tomorrow I’ll be posting my 2016 writing schedule list. It will be great of everyone could drop me a line to keep me on track as the weeks roll by. More importantly stop me from getting an attack of the slack-itus.
